The scientific field of bioacoustics involves measurements and quantification of sound, and analyses of how animals may produce, receive and respond to such measures. It is therefore advisable for students who wish to join our lab to pursue courses that provide them with a strong background in physiology, applied mathematics, discrete time series analysis, engineering and physics.

I receive considerably more applications for joining the lab at BSc., MSc, PhD and post doc levels, than I can accommodate, and students can therefore significantly increase their chances of successful admission by having good grades, a strong academic background in biology or engineering, and convey a sincere interest and professionalism in their application. Students who wish to apply are advised to write a two-page letter of interest in English and submit that along with a CV and recommendations to peter.madsen@biology.au.dk.
